Domaine de Bort

Located 8 km from the Paris-Toulouse motorway (A20) and 12km from the center of Limoges, the château de Bort enjoys an exceptional 80ha enclosed landscaped park.

The château de Bort (15th – 19th centuries), the outbuildings as well as the park and its small dwellings are listed in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments (ISMH) of France. The chapel, located in a wing of the château, is decorated with exceptional early 16th century wall paintings. It is classified as a Historic Monument by the French Government.

The 80 ha enclosed park is located in the heart of a 1000 ha forest.  The forest and park still belong to the family residing at the château. In spring you will be captivated by the hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas of all colors.

This ensemble, passed down for 10 generations, has retained its spirit and charm of days past.  You will experience an atmosphere worthy of a Jane Austen novel when staying in one of the rooms at the castle.

The 6 cottages are in close proximity to the château. They are ideal for spending a weekend or a week’s vacation, enjoying the many hikes available on the property or fishing in one of the park’s lakes.

The arrangement of the cottages is perfect for reuniting with friends or family:  whether for family reunions or a holiday amongst friends, everyone maintains their privacy in their home, but can easily meet up to enjoy country meals or convivial moments around the pool.

Our rooms in the castle

After climbing the imposing white staircase decorated with numerous animal decorations carved in the tufa stone, you will access the long corridor leading to the 2 double bedrooms: the Chambre des Isles, and the Chambre Mauve.
Each can accommodate 2 people (queen size beds) and has private bathrooms (1 with bathtub and 1 with large shower).
These rooms have been carefully restored with the aim of retaining as many old elements as possible. This is evidenced by the 19th century silks, the parquet floors, paintings and engravings, and the numerous family objects steeped in history.
On the 2nd floor via the granite staircase, the La Tour family suite (65 m²) is made up of 3 bedrooms (each with a sink) and a shared bathroom (bathtub). Separate WC.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed. It is located in the round tower and offers a magnificent view of the park and the castle.
A bedroom with 2 twin beds of 90cm and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds of 80cm.
Breakfast is served in the imposing dining room in 19th century crockery, and silverware is of course required.

• 6 rural gîtes with the Gîtes de France label, in the castle grounds.
  Gîte du Jardin 2 ears: capacity 7 people. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with WC, a very large living room (45m²), equipped kitchen.
  Gîte du Bûcher 3 ears: capacity 6 people. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (shower and bath, 2 toilets, very large living room (53m²), open fitted kitchen.
  Gîte de la Volière 3 ears: capacity 8 people. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (shower and bath, 2 toilets, living room, open fitted kitchen.
  Gîte de l'Orangerie 3 ears: capacity 6 people. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (shower and bathtub, 1 toilet, living room, equipped kitchen.
  Gîte de Pierre-Brune 2 ears: capacity 6 people. Small cottage with a “tiny house” atmosphere. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (shower), 1 toilet, small living room, kitchen.
  Gîte des Grangettes 2 ears: capacity 3 people. Small gîte in one of the 5 former guard posts. Picturesque. In the heart of the chestnut orchard. Immersion in nature. 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, dining room, WC, bathroom (bathtub).
  
  All our cottages are equipped with wi-fi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave oven, electric oven, hotplates (gas or glass ceramic), toaster, coffee machine, kettle, Weber barbecue , wooden garden furniture. Limoges porcelain tableware. On request we provide baby equipment free of charge: plastic bathtub, high chair, changing mat and travel cot. Pets not allowed.

Host tables

• Cold meal to enjoy as a picnic on a table in front of the castle, or in the park at the edge of the pond (tables) or anywhere in the park.
  Equipment provided: tablecloth, 1 small electric lantern (candles prohibited!), cutlery, crockery, glasses, napkins, spring water,
  In case of rain, a space is provided for you in the castle gallery.
  Composition (indicative):
  
• Terrine of game from the estate (wild boar or deer depending on the hunt) prepared by the Auberge St Martin, pickles, fresh bread
  
• Green bean salad with shallot and walnuts
  
• Homemade pastries (like apple fondant or almond fondant).
  
• 1 bottle of wine for 2 adults (red or white). Possibility of choosing a wine from the menu (additional charge)
