Take the opportunity to stay in 2 castles intimately attached to the history of the Général Lafayette: the Château des Moyeux and the Château de Vollore.

Day 1: Start with the visit of 218px-Château_de_Chavaniac_Chavaniac-LafayetteChavigniac-Lafayette : birthplace of the Marquis de Lafayette. In the heart of the village, discover the castle-museum Lafayette also called “Le Manoir des 2 Mondes”. Then go to the Château de Vollore : home of the descendants of the Marquis de Lafayette.

Day 2 : Breakfast at the Château de Vollore
Drive to the Château des Moyeux (around 4h30 drive): one of Lafayette’s daughter bought this castle in 1805 to get closer to her dad who was living a few kilometers away.

Day 3 : Breakfast at the Château des Moyeux
Visit of La Grange-Bléneau castle : After his involvement in the American War of Independence, the Marquis de Lafayette comes back in France at the peak of his fame. He dreams of constitutional monarchy and become a key figure of the French revolution. When he returned to France after his exile Gilbert_du_Motier_Marquis_de_Lafayette1(he was captured by Austrian troops and spent more than 5 years in prison), Lafayette settle in the Château de la Grange Bleneau.

Day 4 : Breakfast at the Château des Moyeux
Drive to Paris and the PicPus cemetery: where the Général Lafayette is buried at his wife’s side.
