Welcome to the Haut-Anjou (Upper Anjou), the region between Angers and Château-Gontier, where you are bound to be enthralled just like the celebrated light opera singer Luis Mariano who frequently came to stay here by the calm, romantic atmosphere of Château de la Montchevalleraie, a late 18th-century mansion standing in the midst of its landscaped gardens.

Getting here ...

From Paris, take the A11 motorway leaving at the "Angers" and drive towards Rennes-Laval-Segré on the N162, which becomes the D863 at the "Lion d'Angers" junction. Cross over the viaduct at the "Europe" crossroads in Segré. Just after the viaduct, take the 1st turning on the right towards Aviré. After approximately 4 km/2.5 miles turn left down a small lane: La Morlière, La Monchevalleraie. Then turn right after approximately 400 metres, opposite a lake on your left. The château is at the end of the lane. Michelin map, Pays de la Loire N° 232, folds 6 and 7, and IGN map 1420 est Chemazé.
